大唐十八陵

In May of the second year of yongyining (618 AD), Emperor Gong of the Sui Dynasty, Zen was located in Liyuan and died in the Sui Dynasty. After Li Yuan became emperor, he changed the name of the country to Tang Dynasty, and established the capital of Chang'an. His name was Wu De. At the beginning of the founding of the people's Republic of China, Li Yuan, Li Shimin and his son learned from the lessons of the subjugation of the Sui Dynasty, changed and eliminated the malpractice of the Sui Dynasty, recruited talents, absorbed people from ordinary landlords to participate in politics, improved the feudal state system, implemented the policy of light corvee and light taxes, and issued new land sharing order, etc., which made the country reunified, the society gradually stabilized, and the system of laws and regulations took shape. After the continuous governance of Gaozong, Wuzetian and Xuanzong, the country became stronger and stronger, the territory was vast, the society was stable, the economy was developed, and the culture was splendid, which pushed the Chinese feudal society to the top. In the 13th year of Tianbao (754 AD), there were 321 counties and 1538 counties in China, with a population of more than 10 million at the end of Sui Dynasty, up to 52.88 million. Its heyday lasted for more than 130 years. After the rebellion of an Shi in the fourteenth year of Tianbao (755 AD), the state power of Tang Dynasty gradually declined. For more than 150 years, the emperor was incompetent, the eunuch dictatorship, the struggle between the Allies was complex, the government of officials was corrupt, and the vassals and towns were separated. One after another, they were finally replaced by Houliang in March of the fourth year of Tianyou (907 AD). So far, Tang Dynasty died, lasting 290 years.

In the Tang Dynasty, there were 21 emperors from Li Yuan, the emperor of Gaozu, to Li Gui, the emperor of mourning. Except for Li Ye, the last emperor of Zhaozong, who was buried in Yanshi, Henan Province, and Li Gui, the last emperor of mourning, who was buried in Heze, Shandong Province, the other 19 emperors were buried in Guanzhong after their death. Because Wu Zetian and Gaozong were buried together, there were 18 mausoleums, commonly known as the "Eighteen tombs of Tang Dynasty". These tombs are all distributed in the Loess Plateau and Beishan area to the north of Weishui, starting from Qianxian county and Liquan in the west, passing Jingyang, Sanyuan and Fuping in the East, and ending at puchengfan 6 counties for about 150 kilometers in the East. If Chang'an (today's Xi'an) is taken as the fan axis, and a 102 degree fan is spread from the Qianling mausoleum in Qianxian county to the tailing mausoleum in Pucheng City, then the nine Mausoleums in Han Dynasty are all in the lower half of the fan, and the eighteen Mausoleums in Tang Dynasty are all in the upper half of the fan, which shows that the state of Han and Tang Dynasty is magnificent and magnificent. In ancient times, the choice of mausoleum was called "Buling". Fengshui dragon vein was the main condition. The so-called Fengshui dragon vein did not have a certain standard, but only The Place with better mountain topography was chosen as mausoleum. The choice of mausoleums in the Eighteen tombs of the Tang Dynasty is roughly the same. Most of its mountains are broad-looking Guanzhong fertile fields, far away from the Qinling Mountains, with lofty mountains and hills, undulating peaks, winding like a dragon, magnificent mountains and rivers, all of which are standard geomantic treasures.

The size and shape of the eighteen tombs of the Tang Dynasty are different, the types and quantities of stone carvings are different, and the settings of the mausoleums are also different, but they all reflect the political, economic and cultural conditions of different stages in the history of nearly 300 years, as well as the characteristics of the mausoleum system of the Tang Dynasty.
